5F11 Vibrolux

TOPOLOGY
Three inputs. One 12AX7 gain stage followed by a volume control and one-knob tone stack. Next comes a second 12AX7 gain stage with  negative feedback, followed by a cathodyne phase inverter. Two 6V6 power tubes with fixed bias. One half of a 12AX7 provides bias modulated tremolo with Speed and Depth controls. A single 10″ alnico speaker in a 17″ x 20″ x 9″ cabinet.

DESCRIPTION
One of my favorite small tweed amps. Beautiful warm cleans at moderate volume with hypnotic tremolo. A great amp for home and recording.

In many ways, this amp is similar to the 5E3 Deluxe. It has two gain stages followed by a cathodyne phase inverter driving a pair of 6V6 output tubes, and it uses the same size cabinet. But it differs from the Deluxe in subtle, yet important ways. Using a single input channel frees up a gain stage to drive the deep, rich bias-wiggle tremolo. In exchange, you give up the ability to jumper the channels and have interactive volume controls. The Vibolux adds negative feedback, fixed bias, and uses a smaller 10″ speaker. The result is a lower volume amp with more emphasis on the rich clean sounds, plus superb tremolo.
