Model Number Two Reverb
DESCRIPTION
My version of the Princeton Reverb is a pitch perfect recreation of the mid-60’s blackface and early drip-edge silverface amps. I use voltage corrected power transformers from Mercury Magnetics, and an output transformer from Bryan Sours that meticulously recreates the magic of the vintage amps. The build features Sozo blue molded capacitors, carbon composition resistors, and cloth covered wire, plus vintage layout and construction techniques. I enhance this classic design with a handful of tweaks that reduce hum and hiss, lowering the noise floor and making this timeless amp even better for recording and home practice. I also incorporate an improved and fully adjustable bias supply to allow you to perfectly dial in the bias when it comes time to change the power tubes.
The cabinet I use is solid pine and slightly oversized… about 1″ taller than normal. This extra cabinet volume adds a touch of fullness with the 10″ speaker, and allows for the option of installing a 12″ speaker. Both ceramic and alnico speakers work beautifully in this amp.
TOPOLOGY
This is a single channel amp with a simple treble/bass tone stack. It features tube driven spring reverb, a “bias wiggle” tremolo, two fixed-bias 6V6 power tubes, a cathodyne phase inverter, and a single 10″ speaker driven at about 12-14 watts.
BASE CONFIGURATION
Weber 10F150 speaker, Mercury Magnetics and Soursound transformers, Sozo Blue capacitors, carbon film resistors.

12″ SPEAKER VERSION
A 12″ speaker changes the sound of this amp in significant ways. You get a fuller sound and a louder amp. It’s a more room-filling sound with plenty of bass on tap, but a bit less focused than the 10″ version. The wealth of speaker options available in the 12″ range open up a world of options.
